This week, Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba issued nominations to candidates through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Candidates were invited based on their work experience, skills, and education.

Each PNP has its own scoring system for ranking candidates, and these scores aren’t comparable across different PNPs. Some PNP streams are “enhanced” and linked to the federal Express Entry system. Candidates with an enhanced nomination receive 600 extra CRS points, greatly improving their chances of getting an invitation to apply (ITA) through Express Entry.

PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM UPDATES, AUGUST 10 – 16TH

Ontario

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted two draws this week under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream.

On August 13, the first draw invited 420 candidates with job offers in specified healthcare roles, requiring a minimum score of 50 based on the OINP scoring system.

Later the same day, the OINP issued invitations to 958 candidates with job offers in other high-demand occupations, with a minimum score of 54.

British Columbia

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) conducted four targeted draws this week under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams (including the Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option). Candidates with expertise in high-demand fields were invited across five different economic sectors.

In total, at least 135 candidates received invitations from these draws, each with different minimum scores:

  • 35 candidates in childcare roles required a minimum score of 87.
  • 27 candidates in construction roles required a minimum score of 89.
  • 27 candidates in healthcare roles required a minimum score of 99.
  • 45 candidates in technology roles required a minimum score of 120.
  • Fewer than five candidates in veterinary roles required a minimum score of 80.

Manitoba

On August 15th, the Manitoba PNP (MPNP) conducted two draws:

  1. International Education Stream Draw: 252 candidates were invited. To qualify, candidates needed a master’s or doctoral degree from a Manitoba institution within the last three years and a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of at least 7. No cut-off score was provided.
  2. Skilled Worker Overseas Stream Draw: 40 candidates were invited through a “strategic recruitment initiative.” Applicants needed to meet specific eligibility criteria and achieve a minimum score of 703 on the MPNP scoring system.

Out of the 292 invitations issued, 37 went to candidates with a valid Express Entry profile.
