Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently issued 648 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in a draw exclusively for Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. To qualify, applicants needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 791.
Today’s draw was the second PNP-only event this month, following one on October 7 that invited 1,613 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 743.
IRCC has been consistently holding Express Entry draws every two weeks, issuing 12,815 ITAs for PNPs since May 30. This strategy aims to support temporary residents in Canada while managing permanent resident targets.
The next Immigration Levels Plan is expected by November 1, detailing goals for 2025-2027, with 110,770 newcomers planned for 2024. Candidates who receive ITAs now are likely to be processed for admission in 2025.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is Canada’s application management system for three key economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
It uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to identify candidates who can fill urgent labour gaps and boost the economy. The CRS scores candidates based on factors like age, occupation, education, language skills, and work experience, with each factor contributing to a total score.
PNP draws often feature higher CRS scores because candidates nominated by provinces receive an extra 600 points. Additional points can also be awarded for having family in Canada or immigrating with a spouse or partner.
Those with the highest scores are most likely to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in future Express Entry draws.
