Canadian Passport Ranked as the Seventh-Best in the World

Residence and citizenship advisory firm Henley and Partners has released their 2024 ranking of world passports, incorporating data from the International Air Transport Authority.This year, the firm ranked the Canadian passport as the seventh most powerful in the world, based on various criteria, including the number of visa-free travel options it provides. Canadian passport holders can travel visa-free to 187 countries and have additional work and study opportunities in many of these places. Additionally, many Canadian passport holders benefit from the ability to hold dual citizenship, allowing them to possess two passports. This is the second consecutive year that the Canadian passport has maintained this ranking, tying with the passports of Czechia, Hungary, and Malta.Singapore retained the number one spot this year, with visa-free travel to 195 countries. The second place was tied between the passports of five countries (France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain), each providing visa-free travel access to 192 countries. The United States ranked last among G7 countries, falling to 8th place with visa-free access to 186 countries. This year, Afghanistan ranked last overall, with visa-free access to 26 countries.
